Abstract

This study analyzes the AUKUS alliance as one of the most significant new strategic developments in Southeast Asia and the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It examines the impact of this alliance on regional security, the balance of power among states, and the future of strategic interactions in the region. The research focuses on understanding the nature and objectives of the alliance, its political and military implications, and how it has reshaped the regional security landscape, placing the concerned countries in a new phase of strategic caution.

The study highlights AUKUS’s role in accelerating the naval arms race, as regional countries have sought to strengthen their naval capabilities and modernize their defense systems to address the changes imposed by the alliance. The research indicates that if this arms race is not managed prudently, it could lead to increased regional tensions and unintended escalation between major powers and regional states.

The study also examines the role of preventive diplomacy and strategic coexistence as essential tools adopted by countries to avoid sliding into open conflicts. It emphasizes that regional security can only be safeguarded through enhanced dialogue, cooperation, and the development of more flexible policies in dealing with new military alliances.

The study concludes that the AUKUS alliance poses a growing challenge to Southeast Asian countries, and their responses will determine the future of regional security and stability. Achieving a balanباce between security requirements and coexistence emerges as a strategic necessity to ensure long-term regional stability amid rapidly evolving geopolitical shifts.
