Abstract

   Key principles of international river law include the principle of equality of use and benefit, the principle of no harm, and the principle of cooperation.The Euphrates River is one of the most important international rivers in the Middle East, flowing through Turkey, Iraq, and Syria. For many years, the riparian states of the Euphrates have been suffering from a severe water crisis, due to population growth, agricultural expansion, and large dam projects in Turkey.In 1987, the three states signed an agreement on the Euphrates River, but it has not been ratified by all states. Recently, the three states have been seeking to reach a new agreement on the management of the Euphrates River, but negotiations are still ongoing.

The main challenge in managing the Euphrates River is to achieve a balance between the interests of the riparian states, while taking into account the principles of international river law
